Metal binding screws are supplied in three standard finishes: nickel-plated, brass-plated and black zinc-plated. Other colours are available if required. Book screws can be supplied with coloured heads, on request. Plastic binding screws are available as standard in black and white.
Barrel Nuts provide an alternative method for combining two pieces of material instead of using a traditional screw and nut. These fasteners go by various names such as inter screws, sleeve nuts, female nuts, binding barrels, and sex bolts – featuring a drilled-out barrel with a threaded centre.
Screw binding can be used for a wide variety of books, even leather or paint and fabric swatches. The barrel post of the screw goes through the back cover, through all of the pages, to the front cover. The cap screw is put on the top of the barrel post to keep it fastened.
