Torx Button Head Captive Screws host a button style head free from sharp edges with a smooth, domed design. It is difficult to snag once installed and offers an aesthetically pleasing finish.
The reduced thread, or unthreaded shank, beneath the head helps to create a self-retaining fastener that cannot be fully removed once installed. This is achieved using an appropriate Threaded Captive Washer.
The Torx drive is designed to resist cam-out and ensures a longer operational life – fastened using a standard TX screwdriver or insert bit. If additional protection is required, Security Pin TX Button Captive Screws are also available which feature a tamper-proof Pin TX drive.
These captive screws are required by EU Machine Safety Directive 2006 for various types of safety equipment relating to industrial machinery e.g. safety guards and panels. In addition, they are widely used for a range of applications and assemblies where the loss of fasteners must be avoided.
Torx Button Head Captive Screws are manufactured from A2 / 304 Stainless Steel as standard, with other specialist materials available to order such as Aluminium and Titanium.
Available at Fastenright in thread sizes M3 to M8, with lengths up to 60mm. Optional thread locking patches can also be supplied for increased vibration resistance.
